Every woman has the right to experience the benefits to live and not die.
Meet Gwendolyn Carson
“I never knew what domestic abuse or violence was until one day, I was reading some literature and it sounded like they were talking about me. No, it couldn’t be. I never told anyone. I wouldn’t tell anyone. I continued to suffer, “ TRAPPED” in silence until I found a way out. A few years later, a memory came to my attention. I had a vision of being molested by my babysitter when I was in second or third grade. How could I have forgotten this? Then, I remembered she told me she will beat my behind again. I remembered my upstairs neighbor. WOW, how could I forget these memories from my childhood? I am a Grown Woman.
Gwendolyn tackled real life issues of depression, suicidal thoughts, hopelessness, domestic violence, marital infidelity, emotional abuse, dysfunctional relationships, the joys and frustrations of parenting, the grief and heartbreak of dealing with the death of her child being shaken to death, fighting against judicial, society and the church systems.
She enrolled in the Rape Advocacy Program of Union County, New Jersey for Rape Victims and Crisis Intervention. While experiencing the 24hour crisis line her compassion grew. She started a project called, “Damaged, but not for Life”, focusing on Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault, Molestation, Incest and Female Ex-Offenders. The Honorable Mayor, Chris Bollwage of Elizabeth, NJ, joined her efforts the first event for the City of Elizabeth in March, 2010. He was excited to see someone from the church community step out of the church building to help victims abused and wounded.
She became the Chief Executive Director of “I WILL SURVIVE Project Inc, a 501C3 Domestic Violence Initiative Organization, which advocates for victims in abusive relationships and by helping them maintain a healthy and purpose driven lifestyle. They also promote wellness and wholeness, stretching the mind for every impossibility to be possible. I have declared over my life, “ I AM THAT POSSIBILITY”!
